John Wick 4 Could Film Later This Year According to Star

The world of entertainment remains a giant question mark for the most part even though things appear to be returning to a sense of normalcy. Films and TV shows are back in production, high profile projects have already been released and plenty of others are penciled in for the rest of the year. That said, not everything that's been announced can happen, like how Lionsgate's previously published plans for John Wick 4 have had to be altered multiple times. Speaking in a new interview though, one of the stars of the series says he thinks the film will finally get in front of cameras later this year.

"Keanu [Reeves] and I exchanged New Year’s greetings and said, 'Hope to see you this year.' I know the script is being written and they’re hoping to do it this year," Ian McShane told Collider. I know they announced they were gonna do ['John Wick 4'] and ['John Wick 5'] together, but who knows. The studios announce all sorts of things. No doubt, at some point this year, we’re gonna do 'John Wick 4'."

McShane, who plays the part of Continental Hotel owner Winston, also reflected on the success of the first movie and how he knew in those early days that it could lead to the current blockbuster franchise.

"They got such a good cast for the first one and it was a very good script. I thought the second one wasn’t quite as good, but people by then loved it and went with it. I think the third one was really terrific, so it lived up to it. I always thought it had legs because of Keanu, a dead wife, a dog, a gun, and a great car. It had all of the elements, so how can you fail?"

Not only does John Wick "have legs" as McShane put it, but the series already has two more movies announced as being in the pipeline. Lionsgate previously revealed their intentions to shoot John Wicks 4 and 5 back to back. The studio made this declaration in August of last year, meaning they were well aware of the risks of filming during the ongoing pandemic, but updates on that specific plan haven't been announced in the time since.

The Seven Deadly Sins Announces New Sequel Movie

The Seven Deadly Sins has announced a new sequel movie is on the way! The fourth and final season of the anime series, The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgment, is currently premiering new episodes in Japan (but fans in other territories will have to wait until later in 2021 to check out the new season on Netflix) and it seems the anime franchise is gearing up to continue further. Although the anime has set Dragon's Judgment as the final season of the series overall, it's not going to be end of the anime in general as a new film will continue beyond the events of the final season.

Kodansha has announced The Seven Deadly Sins will be releasing a brand new anime feature film set after the events of Dragon's Judgment. Aiming for a release in Japan later this Summer, The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light, will feature a completely original story from original series creator Nakaba Suzuki.

With The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgment currently making its way through Japan, there's no telling what this new story will entail or whether or not the final events of the manga will be reflected in the anime's currently scheduled 24 episode run. The original manga release of the series will also be getting an official sequel some time this year as well, so maybe the film could even be tied into that. But it's far too early to tell, of course.

The Phantasm Makes Their Full Batman Catwoman Debut

In Batman/Catwoman #1, writer Tom King brought a beloved character from the animated universe onto the pages of comics by bringing back Andrea Beaumont/Phantasm with the story centering around the Joker killing Andrea's son, a trauma that prompts Andrea to suit up again as Phantasm to finish what she started years ago by ending the Joker once and for all. While the first issue teases Andrea's return as the vengeful killer, it's this week's Batman/Catwoman #2 that truly sees the Phantasm return in all its terrifying glory.

In the issue -- in the "present-day" timeline -- various henchmen of the Joker start turning up dead. It doesn't take long for Batman and Catwoman to deduce that it's Andrea, back to work as Phantasm, taking people out one by one, presumably until she gets to The Joker himself. Of course, readers don't have to wait to figure it out. A page early on in the issue gives readers their first full look at Phantasm, suited up and complete with a bloody scythe.

While Andrea's return to killing and the Phantasm is clearly a huge driver of the story, the issue goes a bit further and starts to truly hint that it's not just Andrea's trauma that is a driving force behind why, in a "future" timeline when Batman is dead and she and the Joker are both old, Selina pays the Joker a visit in order to kill him. While Selina tells the Joker that she "can't ever get Andrea out" of her head and that she begged Bruce to let her kill him over the years, there is much more to the story. Back in the present, Selina appears to be keeping secrets from Bruce. It's something that hasn't ever gone over particularly well when it comes to the relationship between Catwoman and Batman and while Selina is determined to end the Joker, it may not be just to get justice for Andrea after all this time.

"Phantasm has come to Gotham City! Andrea Beaumont, the one-time love of Bruce Wayne, is looking for her lost child, and she’s pretty sure The Joker is involved. So, who better to have as an ally than Batman? And what better way to get to Batman than through Catwoman? It’s a knotted history for this costumed quartet, spanning past, present, and future. What The Joker did to Selina Kyle at the beginning of her career will have deadly consequences at the end of their lives. Tom King’s ultimate tale of the Dark Knight kicks into high gear as the story roars down the avenues only hinted at in the pages of Batman."

My Next Life as a Villainess Season 2 Confirms Release Window with First Trailer

My Next Life as a Villainess has confirmed its release window with the first trailer for Season 2! As one of the biggest debuts of last year, the anime adaptation for Satoru Yamaguchi and Nami Hidaka's My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom confirmed a second season was in the works shortly after the first came to an end. The inaugural season of the anime series was one of the best received anime not only in the Spring 2020 season, but the entire year as a whole considering the stresses of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Although there had not been any updates for the new season since it was initially announced this Summer, fans got a big news drop when My Next Life as a Villainess confirmed Season 2 will be releasing some time this July. Although it has not confirmed exactly when in July the new episodes will premiere, the series has dropped its first trailer giving fans an idea of what to expect in the second season.

A staff or cast has yet to be formally announced for the second season of the series, but the cast and staff from the first season presumably will return for the next outing. As of what we can expect from the second season of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, the first trailer teases all kinds of shenanigans from Catarina Claes once more.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Announced for Nintendo Switch

THQ Nordic has announced that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will release on Nintendo Switch on March 16th. An enhanced port of the 2012 game, Re-Reckoning released on other platforms last September, but now action-RPG fans will get a chance to enjoy the game on Nintendo's latest console, as well! As of this writing, it does not appear that the Switch version will feature any additional changes over those released last year. However, the console's ability to play games in a portable format just might be enough to sway those that passed on the game's release last year! Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will release both digitally and physically.

THQ Nordic's announcement regarding the game's Nintendo Switch version can be found embedded below.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game featured a veritable who's who of talent involved, including Ken Rolston, R.A. Salvatore, Todd McFarlane, and Grant Kirkhope. Prior to the game's initial release, there were hopes that it would spawn a franchise, but developer 38 Studios went under before a sequel could begin development. With the game's rights now in the hands of THQ Nordic, it's possible that renewed interest could lead to an eventual follow-up.

While third-party games haven't had the best track record of releasing on Nintendo platforms, Switch has reversed that trend. A number of games have actually performed better on the console than they have on other platforms! There are multiple possible reasons for that, but Nintendo Switch has been a massive success worldwide; last month, it was revealed that the system was the top-selling video game console in the US for 24 consecutive months. As long as the system continues to succeed, it seems likely that more games like Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be offered on Switch.

Bayonetta 3 Developer Hopes to Give Update On the Game In 2021

Bayonetta 3 continues to be the game that many Nintendo fans are clamoring to hear more about. After over three years of silence, no major information on the upcoming action game has been divulged outside of its initial reveal trailer. Luckily, if everything ends up panning out properly this year, this trend should be changing.

In a new interview that has recently come about, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya talked about Bayonetta 3 a bit and teased fans with when they might finally learn more. Kamiya was asked about the status of some of Platinum’s current projects to which he then brought up the third installment in the action series. “Well, I suppose... we’ve been working on new stuff like Bayonetta 3, not that I can say too much,” Kamiya said. “But I hope we can give an update during the year.”

Kamiya went on to say that he also hopes that Platinum can update fans on some unannounced projects that the studio has in the works as well. He acknowledged that he probably shouldn’t have even mentioned this latter point, but he still threw it out there all the same. “The point is – I’m trying to do a lot of stuff this year,” he explained.

Even though there still isn’t much to go off of here in regards to Bayonetta 3, it’s at least good to know that the game is reaching a point where those in charge at Platinum are entertaining the idea of showing off more to the public. Obviously, developers around the world have surely had a much harder time with their work over the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have played a part in why there still has been nothing shown off of the game recently.

If any updates do come about on Bayonetta 3, it seems likely that we’ll hear more in a Nintendo Direct presentation. At the moment, Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans to hold one of these showcases yet in 2021. That said, Nintendo’s last Direct occurred all the way back in October so we might be in line to get one soon.

Digimon Adventure Debuts a Surprise Patamon Evolution

Digimon Adventure debuted a surprising Patamon evolution in the newest episode! Digimon Adventure's reboot series has been making its way through its next intense arc, and fans have seen some surprising evolutions over the course of its first 30 or so episodes. But now a new wrench has been thrown into the mix that fans of the original series are bound to be surprised by as the evolutions in the new series are no longer confined by the rules of that first series. Because as we see in Episode 32 of the series, these new Digimon partners have branching evolution forms.

Episode 32 of the series surprises with a pull from Digimon Adventure 02 and sees Patamon evolve not into Angemon as had been seen prior, but sees it evolve into Pegasmon (Pegasusmon in the original Digimon Adventure 02) through the battle. But this time around, it's without the need for the Digi-Egg of Hope.

Branching evolutionary paths in general are not a first for this franchise, nor had the evolutions been set in stone in the new series as MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon had received upgrades to their forms in prior episodes, but this is a huge twist to the original anime series. This is a major step forward for the rest of the series. It was possible to connect certain dots from the older series through the first half of the reboot, but now we're in completely uncharted waters here.

When Patamon sees Tai and Sora struggle against attacking Fangmon and Cerberumon, it digs deep into itself to try and evolve but it's exhausted much of its holy power in the previous fight against DarkKnightmon. But it still manages to evolve into this familiar Season 2 evolution, and thus raises many questions about the potential evolutions of the other DigiDestined as the series moves forward.

NBA Jam Documentary Announced

There’s no doubt about it that NBA Jam is one of the most popular sports games of all-time. The classic arcade game that first made waves in the 90s has continued to remain relevant over the years thanks to its killer gameplay, iconic rosters, and amazing catchphrases. And now, a new movie all about the game is set to come about in the future.

Reported by Variety, a new documentary all about NBA Jam is now in the works. The film is going to be based on the book by Reyen Ali that is all about the game. BestCrosses Studios is attached to produce the film while Sean Menard, who has produced sports documentaries in the past, will be the director.

As for what the documentary will touch on, it should focus on the game’s creation and rise to popularity. The book that the film is based on contained interviews with a variety of people who helped to work on the original game. It also featured thoughts from NBA players, longtime fans, and a number of others who adore the game. It stands to reason that the documentary will have many of these folks return to talk on camera this time around.

When it comes to what the movie’s director has in mind for the project, he wants to focus not only on how NBA Jam became a massive success, but also how the game’s developer would later shut down. “Our film is more than just an original story about the most successful sports game of all time,” Menard explained to Variety. “There are various sub-plots that detail how gaming was transitioning from arcades to home entertainment and how it would eventually lead to the demise of Midway.”

Xbox Series X Name Trashed by A Way Out Director Josef Fares

When it comes to the names of Microsoft's video game consoles, the Xbox Series X and Series S branding can be a bit confusing for the uninitiated. Between original consoles and the various remodels that Microsoft has offered for its systems over the years, it's clear that the company's branding lacks the simplicity that PlayStation's numbered offerings provide. In an interview with IGN, A Way Out developer Josef Fares weighed-in on the names of Microsoft's next-gen consoles, decrying how confusing it can be, both for newcomers to the Xbox brand, and even for those that actually work for Microsoft!

Regardless what console gamers prefer, it's hard to disagree with Fares' conclusion. The Xbox Series X branding is quite confusing, particularly given how close the name is to the Xbox One X, and how similar Xbox Series S is to Xbox One S. The naming convention is sure to confound some parents, and could even result in the wrong console being purchased.

At this point, it's too late for Microsoft to change things up, so gamers will just have to stick with the Xbox Series X|S naming convention this time around. Given some of the backlash against the name, it will be interesting to see whether or not Microsoft decides to go with something a little bit clearer in the future. While Microsoft couldn't mimic Sony's numbered branding, Nintendo has found success with most of its console naming; it would be easier for Microsoft to follow Nintendo's approach, offering catchier, simpler names. Sales of Xbox Series X|S seem to be pretty strong so far, so it might not make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things!

Troy Baker Again Teases Interest in Daredevil Video Game

Fans have been clamoring for a video game starring Daredevil for quite some time, and it seems that actor Troy Baker is once again expressing his interest in portraying the character. On Twitter, the actor shared a Tweet from a fan requesting a game starring Daredevil, voiced by Baker. Baker did not comment on the Tweet, instead quote tweeting it, letting a lone emoji do the talking for him. Whether this is just another expression of interest, or something more, remains to be seen. This is not the first time that Baker has expressed an interest in the role; last year, Baker directly lobbied Bill Rosemann on Twitter, prompting rumors of a game starring the hero.

Given the exchange between Baker and Rosemann, it's hard to imagine anyone other than the actor being offered the role, should it become available. It would not be the actor's first time portraying a character in a Marvel video game, either. Last year, Baker voiced Bruce Banner in Marvel's Avengers, and Simon Krieger in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The actor has also appeared in a number of other Marvel games, including Disney Infinity and LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

Daredevil has appeared as a playable character in a number of games over the years, but has had just one starring role, in a game released on Game Boy Advance. A game starring the character was planned for PS2, Xbox and PC back in 2003, but the game was cancelled before it was completed. The title would have been based on the comics, as opposed to the film that released that same year. Footage of the game's PC build resurfaced last year, offering a number of details on the cancelled project.

Hitman 3 Launch Trailer Released

Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive has today released the launch trailer for the upcoming assassination video game. The title, which is scheduled to release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, PC, and even Nintendo Switch later this week, sees Agent 47 back in action once again for the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy of video games. As with most launch trailers, it's basically a montage of various gameplay moments set to a killer soundtrack.

"Hitman 3 is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy, taking players around the world on a globetrotting adventure to sprawling sandbox locations, with Agent 47 returning for the most important contracts of his career," the developer said of the new title when it was first announced. "Supported by his Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, Agent 47 joins forces with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey. Their ultimate mission is to eliminate the partners of Providence, but they are forced to adapt as their hunt intensifies. When the dust settles, 47 and the world he inhabits will never be the same again."

As noted above, Hitman 3 is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC later this week on January 20th. The video game will also release for the Nintendo Switch via cloud-streaming technology. In addition to completely new stages, players will also be able to import locations from the two previous World of Assassination games, Hitman and Hitman 2. That means there will be over 20 possible locations within the video game with all of Hitman 3's next-gen improvements baked in. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the upcoming video game sequel right here.

Dragon Ball Super Teases the Birth of the Universe's Next Great Fighter

The new year is here, and that means Dragon Ball Super is ready to take on a new arc. After dealing with Moro and the gang in 2020, the manga is preparing to put Goku through his paces once more. The next arc coming to Dragon Ball promises to introduce some impressive villains who have a dark history with the Saiyan race. And thanks to a new promo, it seems a prophecy will accompany this arc which foretells the birth of the universe's greatest warrior to date.

The update came recently when Dragon Ball Super put out a promo for its next chapter. The release, which drops next week, plans to give fans a better take on Granolah and his mission. However, as the promo shows, Goku will receive a prophecy in this arc that has piqued interested.

According to the Oracle Fish, a warrior is about to be born into Universe 7 that surpasses Goku. The promo calls this mysterious figure the greatest warrior in the universe, and it will be born soon. At this point, fans have no idea who or what this prophecy is referring to, but they have plenty of ideas.

The first is more literal as fans are curious if a new fighter is about to be born. Bulla was born amidst the drama of Dragon Ball Super, so it is possible. There is always a chance a new Saiyan could be born perhaps on Broly's side, but any warrior could be literally birthed this arc according to the Oracle Fish.

The second theory going around is a metaphorical take on birth. A warrior can be birthed at any time when the situation demands, so that could be the ordeal here. The Oracle Fish might foresee the arrival of such a moment, and it could refer to anyone - even Goku. All it would require is a new power boost, and Dragon Ball Super is really good at creating those for its heroes.

Call of Duty: Warzone Leak Reveals Details on Massive New Map

A new Call of Duty: Warzone leak sheds light on a massive new map reportedly coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC game soon. According to the leak, there's a new map coming to Warzone soon, and it will be 8x8. What does this mean? Well, the game's current is a 9x9 map, but only 6.5x7 of it is playable. According to the leak, all 8x8 of the map is playable, which means it will be substantially bigger than Verdansk, and this likely means it will support up to 200 players.

All of this information comes the way of ModernWarzone, who also reveals some other details pertaining to the map's locations. For example, the new map will reportedly have a Zoo POI, which looks like it may be a remaster of Zoo from Call of Duty: Black Ops' Escalation DLC based on early images.

Meanwhile, there will also be a POI called weather station, which is close to another POI called Ski Slopes. It's not clear what this location will be, but it could be Summit from Black Ops considering its proximity to Ski Slopes.

Unfortunately, for now, this is where the details end. Of course, everything here should be taken with a grain of salt, not only because nothing here is official, but because even if it's all accurate, it's also subject to change. ModernWarzone is one of the most trusted sources in the Call of Duty community when it comes to leaks, rumors, reports, and every other type of unofficial information, but that doesn't change the fact that none of this comes from Activision or Raven Software.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier Star Anthony Mackie Reveals Will Smith Punched Him in the Face

Ahead of his appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie has made a name for himself as a major action star through various films and TV series. But when going up against Will Smith, an A-list star in his own right, Mackie was on the receiving end of an unfortunate blow. The Marvel star appeared on The Jess Cagle Show this week to promote his new Netflix film Outside the Wire when he revealed a hilarious story during the film's production that led to an altercation with Smith. While attending his fellow actor's birthday party in Budapest in 2019, Smith ended up accidentally punching Mackie in the face.

"Well, I got so funny story. Will Smith shot, what's the movie. He had a movie come out last year, Gemini Man, and he shot it in Budapest. So, it was his 50th birthday. And my publicist called me and she's like, 'yo Will Smith is having a birthday party in Budapest. Do you want to present his birthday cake to him?'" Mackie said. "So, I'm like, 'Holy shit yes. It's Will Smith. Of course.' So, we're all on stage. Will Smith does like a whole concert I'm on stage with Will Smith doing a concert. I'm losing my mind. Right? So, the cake comes out, we bring the cake out, Will Smith sees me and he goes, 'Hey, Anthony Mackie.' I'm like, Will Smith knows my name. Right? So, I go to like high five. I don't know what I was trying to do, but like, I was trying to hug him and he thought I was coming in for like a high five. So, he like tried to grab my arm and he punched me in the jaw so hard. Like he hit me with a right cross so hard. Then he grabbed me and he's like, 'you're good?' I was like, 'I think so. I think we're in a fight, are we in a fight?' He's like, 'no, no, I'm sorry.'"

When The Jess Cagle show co-host, Julia Cunningham joked that she couldn't believe Smith punched him, Mackie joked that Smith is "an angry human being".

"He punched me in the jaw," Mackie said, laughing. "Will Smith punched me the jaw. He's an angry human being. I know he meant to do it, there is no way you mess up a hug with a punch in the jaw."

Mackie also went on to say that Smith had a pretty solid right cross and joked that he "took a punch from Mohammad Ali" -- Smith played the boxing legend in 2001's Ali.

"Yo, he has a right cross man," Mackie said. "Protect yourself. Cause dude came in. I mean, woo! It was a punch, but I took a punch from Mohammad Ali. I can say it."

Mackie will next be seen reprising his role as Falcon in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and while fans are eagerly awaiting any information they can get about the upcoming Marvel series, when asked if he knew who the new Captain America is going to be, Mackie said no.

"No, we don't know that yet. The show, the idea of the show is basically, you know, and at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Cap decided he was going into retirement and he asked me if I would take up the shield, but at no point in time, did I agree to or say that I would be Captain America," Mackie clarified. "So, the show walks the line of who is going to take up the shield and who's going to be Captain America if Steve isn't coming back."

Mortal Kombat Movie First Look Revealed

Following a tease yesterday from actor Lewis Tan, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first images from the live-action Mortal Kombat film reboot! While the images themselves are pretty exciting, they still leave a lot of mystery of what's to come, so fans worried about spoilers can check them out without worry. For longtime fans of the franchise, this should be pretty exciting! Prior to the release of these images, Tan's role in the film had remained undisclosed, but ComicBook can now confirm that the actor will play Cole Young in the film.

With a few months left until the film's release, very few details have been revealed about Mortal Kombat. Directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan and Todd Garner, the film will star Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion), Mehcad Brooks (Jax), Lewis Tan (Cole Young), and Chin Han (Shang Tsung). Unlike previous films based on the video game franchise, this one will receive an 'R' rating, potentially allowing it to cut loose in a way that previous Mortal Kombat movies have not. For the first time, fans will truly get to see fatalities represented on the big screen!

It will be interesting to see the reaction to the film when it releases. More than 25 years after its debut, the 1995 Mortal Kombat film still holds a special place in the hearts of a lot of franchise fans. Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios has embraced that fact, releasing a number of skins based on the film last year, as well as bringing back some of the actors to reprise their roles. Whether or not this year's film reboot will be able to earn itself a similarly passionate following remains to be seen!

Like many of Warner Bros. Pictures other 2021 releases, Mortal Kombat will release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. Theater goers and subscribers will have the opportunity to check out the film on April 16th. In the meantime, you can check out all of our previous coverage of the Mortal Kombat reboot right here.
