‘Percy Jackson’ live-action series coming to Disney+

Author Rick Riordan announced that the series “Percy Jackson” is getting a live-action remake for streaming platform Disney+. Riordan confirmed the news in a video announcement with his wife, Becky, on his Twitter account on May 12.

“After a lot of hard work, and a lot of support from you guys, Percy Jackson is coming to Disney+,” Riordan said.

The author assured fans it will follow the storyline of the original five-book Percy Jackson series, starting with “The Lightning Thief” for season one.

“Rest assured that Becky and I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show,” he said in a follow-up statement.

“Percy Jackson” is a Greek mythology-based book that follows the story of a teenager named Percy Jackson, a demigod son of Poseidon. He was sent to Camp Half-Blood, where he meets other fellow demigods.

The other books in Riordan’s original Percy Jackson series are “The Sea of Monsters,” “The Titan’s Curse,” “The Battle of the Labyrinth,” and “The Last Olympian.”
