Britain’s Got Talent audition by Filipino dance couple electrifies judges, audience

Filipino dance couple Ezekiel and Karl electrified judges and the audience after delivering a sassy and spectacular performance during their audition in Britain’s Got Talent.

The Philippines’ Ezekiel Vargas and Carl Belarmino Magan danced while undergoing several costume changes in sync with Tina Turner’s Proud Mary.

Their energy-packed number received a standing ovation from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams, and the BGT live audience.

“Ezekiel and Karl have come all the way from the Philippines to bring their incredible, sparkling dance act to the BGT stage – and looks like they definitely packed the energy! As well as one very magical, ever-changing dress! Just how many looks can you fit into one performance?!” the caption read on Britain’s Got Talent YouTube on May 2, 2020.

“I could not be more flattered that you flew all the miles, indeed to come and enter the show,” Simon Cowell said.

Judge Amanda Holden asked them why they want to perform on Britain’s Got Talent and the duo replied, “we want to perform in front of the British Royal Family”.

They also wowed the audience and the judges with several costume changes that started with Filipino fashion, Tina turner’s iconic look, and LGBT colors.

“I loved it. It was a celebration of life and difference. It is my pleasure to give you your first yes,” David Walliams said.

Alesha Dixon said that their technique “is out of this world. I am saying yes”.

“It was pure utter energy from start to finish,” Simon Cowell said before giving his yes.

Amanda commended the duo’s positive energy and said, “It was an amazing audition”.

The Filipino dance couple is going through to the next round after receiving four Yesses from the judges.

The Got Talent franchise has since several Pinoy acts pass auditions with excellent performances and reach the finals.

Marcelito Pomoy joined America’s Got Talent Champions where the Filipino singer eventually won 3rd runner up while El Gamma Penumbra was Asia’s Got Talent’s first Grand Champion.

Filipino dancers have also been using their talent to inspire and give back to their fellow citizens in this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

Champion dance crew UPeepz gave free online dance classes on Facebook to raise funds for personal protective equipment of frontliners in various hospitals while DLSU-D Lasallian Pointes N’ Flexes Dance Company members and alumni conducted online Zumba classes, workout sessions, and dance classes to raise funds to aid the poor urban communities affected by the lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19.
